What is the Future of Education?

From augmented reality to integrated touchscreens in every student’s desk, one thing is certain: Technology will play an even bigger role in the education of tomorrow.

Technology Will Change How We Teach and Learn

To date, 50 percent of all Americans own either a tablet or an eReader, and 58 percent of Americans own a smartphone. Those numbers will surely grow, and touchscreens and tablets will likely play an increased role in education, in the physical classroom as well as at home and in online environments.
Already, six out of ten college students say they prefer books in digital format. This preference doesn’t seem to present a problem. As our reading expert says, “all reading is good reading.” In fact, one study referenced showed improved engagement and learning outcomes when students had regular access to technology.
Along with changes in hardware, we can expect to see progress in software. Augmented reality integrated into lessons would mean fun and engaging curricula and changes in the ways we teach and learn. Gamification apps like Grand-Essays already offer fun, easy learning opportunities anywhere, and we can expect to see more as devices improve and new apps are developed.

Free, Accessible Education for All

Increased access to the Internet will mean more learning opportunities for more people. Currently, 79 percent of Americans have a computer at home and 75 percent have home Internet, numbers that have grown exponentially in a relatively short period of time. With increased connectivity comes increased access to education.
MOOCs, or Massive Open Online Courses are already offered by respected institutions like Harvard, MIT, and Yale and studies show they’re proven to be effective. Over the last few years, millions of students have enrolled in these courses, and they’re only expected to grow.
A predicted deemphasis of college degrees by employers and a shift to valuing knowledge means these courses could be an accessible, affordable option for future job-seekers to gain the knowledge they need. We’ve seen firsthand the success of online school options for students in grades K-12. Free, effective online learning for higher education, accessible to anyone, anywhere, is an exciting prospect.

4 Networking Strategies for Authors Who Hate Networking

I’m an introvert who hates forced social situations, but I’ve discovered some valuable networking strategies since my debut YA novel ONE NIGHT was released, though I didn’t realize I was networking at the time.
I think it helps to define networking here as connecting with someone who can and does help get your name and/or your work in front of more people. The audience can be large or small, but ideally the audience should be engaged. My top tips for networking:

1. Submit your polished work to online outlets in a professional manner.

This might sound obvious, but I’ve found even when it doesn’t result in a piece getting accepted it works in other ways. Oftentimes if I pitch a guest column or blog post that isn’t accepted, the editor refers me to someone else. For example, I pitched Chicago YA Writers a personal statement about writing mentorships and they told me they were on hiatus, but referred me to an editor at YA Interrobang who accepted the piece. This has happened to me a few times. If you put your best foot (and work) forward you’ll likely get the name of a new connection even if the original place you pitched to rejects you.

2. If you’re going to write a blog post, be helpful.

I know I’m not the first person to have said this, but I’m here to tell you that it works. I wrote a post recently on my web site about how to avoid burnout and my struggle to balance my writing with everything else. I wrote it because I thought the tips I’d found useful might be helpful to someone else. I figured if it helped one person that would be great. I think that was the key—that my primary goal was I wanted to be helpful, to give someone who was in a similar situation some ideas. The goal wasn’t to increase my blog traffic, but in my effort to be helpful I’ve been pleasantly surprised that the link has been shared a few times and was mentioned on a podcast (along with my name).

3. Just talk to people (like they’re a regular person) without expecting anything in return.

There’s some networking advice that says you should always go to events with a goal of making two connections but I find just having a regular conversation with someone you think is interesting accomplishes a lot. I did a local author event in January and wound up sitting next to a YA author who had had traditional publishing deals but decided to start publishing independently. I asked questions, genuinely curious about her experience, and she told me about an annual luncheon with booksellers and librarians one state over and said she’d get me on the invite list. I didn’t even ask for anything, but she apparently enjoyed our conversation enough to offer something up.

4. Extend bigger thank yous to people who go the extra mile for you.

As a rule I always send email thank yous, but sometimes when a blogger does something unexpected for me or a reader passes along news about my books I send a handwritten thank you note or a signed book. This small act of showing gratitude pays off in the long run. I sent a signed book to one blogger who has been incredibly supportive of my work and when I later asked her for a favor related to my writing she responded and delivered on it the same day.

5 Incredibly Important SEO Lessons For Every Startup

1. Decide your target keywords

A user types in a keyword in a search engine. The search engine comes up with a list of results based on the most relevant websites using those keywords. It is imperative that you know what keywords are important to your website. If you are a gifting app, you need to concentrate on keywords like gifting, online gifts, gifts for her, gifts for him etc. If a user types ‘gifts for mom delhi’, you need to come up with creative ways to include keyword variants naturally and organically in your content to show up in the result page. Engaging in SEO means that you are staying competitive, that your brand gets the exposure 24×7 and that you are constantly getting new customers.

2. Indulge in Content Marketing

SEO is heavily dependent on good content. Therefore, creating and sharing content that attracts and converts more and more prospects into customers is very important. The content, though, should be closely related to what you sell. You could have interesting blogs, videos, catchphrases, podcasts etc. 86% of companies today are using content marketing. But less than half are any good at it. Content marketing done right can take your brand from good to great.
Coke’s “Share a Coke” campaign gave everyone an opportunity to personalize their favourite drink. Coke took 150 most common names in Australia and added them to the bottles. The touch of personalization made people feel special and the campaign was an instant hit.

3. Be active on Social Media

Social media today is more important than ever. With majority of the population living on social media, it is a great platform to make new customers. For a startup, engaging in social media is a great way to get the desired attention to your brand. With the right content you can connect with the potential customers and directly present your brand to them and have people talk about your brand. Through social media you can determine the popularity of your brand. It also drives high quality traffic to your website. If people are engaging with your brand on social media, there is good chance that they might go to your website as well.
A good example of a great social media presence is Airbnb. Through their fun ‘Hollywood & Vines’ videos to their heart touching ‘Stories’ section, Airbnb has been able engage everyone(even non-customers).

4. Mobile friendly websites

According to studies, about 40% of the people who have a mobile phone use the internet and half of them go online at least once every day. There is no point having a website that is not easily accessible through a mobile phone. When a customer finds that your website is not mobile compatible, they might switch to a website that provides similar services and is mobile compatible as well. The alternative to a mobile friendly website is creating an app, which of course is little more tedious and an expensive affair (though effective). But, having a mobile friendly website is great for SEO as it helps improve rankings on mobile friendly search engines such as Google or Yahoo.

5. Off-site SEO

Off-site SEO focuses on a website’s relationship with other websites. Creating inbound links and making sure that you are present in online directories and websites where your potential customers might visit is off-site optimization. For example, if you are a book dealer, having a link on assignment writers service would be beneficial to your business. Your off-site optimization includes your social media presence, press releases, blogs, SEO articles – anything that brings in more traffic to your website. Off-site SEO should be reviewed and updated regularly as it is as important as your on-site optimization.

9 Amazing Health Benefits Of Drinking Water On An Empty Stomach

#1 Eliminates Toxins

Your body contains many unwanted substances along with toxins. And they need to be removed from your system in order to maintain good health. So drinking water before brushing your teeth after you get up contributes to eliminating toxins.
This practice also helps in preventing many diseases by boosting your metabolism rate. And anything that increases metabolism during the morning hours can prove to be beneficial to the overall health of our body in the long run.

#2 Releases Waste

When we’re sleeping at night, our body is constantly working to repair cells and cleanse itself. So when you wake up and drink a glass of water immediately, it provides the much-needed boost to your body. And this boost helps in releasing all that waste through urine.

#3 Minimizes the Effects of Harmful Substances

This is one of the greatest benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach. The adverse effects that harmful substances like tobacco, pollution, alcohol (drinking water doesn’t prevent a hangover), and junk food have on our body are reduced with water. If you consume a glass or two of water on an empty stomach, it can go a long way in curtailing the ill effects of toxic elements.

#4 Keeps the Skin Healthy

Everybody knows the skin benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach. Don’t you? Never mind, I’ll tell you. Drinking at least 2 glasses of water when the stomach is empty helps in maintaining the elasticity of your skin. It also improves your skin tone and prevents the formation of premature wrinkles.

#5 Hydrates Vital Organs

Now we all know that water keeps our body hydrated. What we don’t know is that our vital organs need as much hydration as they possibly can. This is important for them to function normally and in a healthy manner. So drinking water before brushing or eating anything can give your vital organs all the extra hydration they need to stay strong and active.

#6 Burns Calories and Fats

This is one of the most popular benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach. Weight loss is something that many people have to deal with, right? And water doesn’t only help in removing toxins but also eliminating body fat. Also, the best way to reduce hunger is to drink plenty of water.
So you should make it a habit of drinking 2 to 3 glasses of water straight after getting up every morning. Such a healthy practice will inevitably help in burning some calories and fats of your body.

#7 Keeps Overall Health in Check

When I say overall good health, I mean a lot of things. Water can help in maintaining the intestinal transit and the lymphatic system. It also does a great job at controlling cortisol in our body.
Another great benefit is defending the human body from many infections. So this is what I mean by saying that consuming water on an empty stomach immediately after getting up keeps your overall health in check.

#8 Gives You More Energy

How many times have you woken up at the beginning of the day feeling sleepy and a bit of fatigue? Many times, right? Now, I’m not saying that water is like coffee and will make you feel energized in an instant. What I’m trying to tell you is that consuming water on an empty stomach provides your body with the energy it needs during the morning hours.
The sleepy and fatigue sensations get considerably reduced when we adopt a habit such as this. Everybody likes to wake up to a good mood and incredible energy, right? So maybe it’s time we do everything in our control in order to achieve that.

#9 Prevents Constipation

Bowel movement and constipation are like best buddies. When you have a natural remedy to stimulate your bowel movement, you’ve hit the jackpot. Drinking water before brushing or consuming any food during the morning time triggers your bowel movement. And we all know how essential that is in not only preventing but also combating the problem of constipation.

Now that you know all the benefits written by professional writers of drinking water on an empty stomach, how likely are you to incorporate this habit into your lifestyle? Do you think it’ll make any difference in the way your body functions?

How to decide when a new technology isn't right for your business

A large enterprise wants to move mission critical apps to the cloud but has too much invested in custom software and interfaces between internal systems to move to generic alternatives that someone else hosts.
A small credit union that still keeps manual ledgers wants an online banking system, but can't afford one.
These are just some of the reasons why companies decide not to adopt new technology.
When these decisions are made, they fly in the face of conventional wisdom—which is to adopt new technology at a rigorous pace to avoid losing competitive edge.
CIOs and IT and business managers understand the importance of keeping up technologically —but they also understand that they have to be in a position to fully exploit their technology investments.
There are actually good reasons to delay technology adoption. Here are four questions to ask during the decision making process.

How does the technology fit with your business?

If you're a muffler shop, you'll need an online database of customers and vehicles, order/invoice system, inventory system, HR system, financials and internet connections—but you might not need to write my personal statement or to be deploying mobile or RFID apps, and social media and website traffic analytics might not be high on your priority list, either. Not every business needs every new technology that's out there. If a new technology can't help your business, don't invest in it.

Will your management team support delayed adoption?

One of the easiest things for a CFO to say to a CIO is, "We can't afford it," when it comes to new technology adoption. But equally challenging for a CIO can be senior management (including the CFO) wondering why you aren't recommending adoption of the latest technology.
This is where it's important for the CIO to explain in business terms why it's best for the company to pass on a technology investment.
When I was a corporate CIO, we had a remote engineering site in Texas. The CEO and the engineering VP thought it would be an excellent idea to invest $20,000 into a video system for collaboration, but further investigation revealed that the system would only be used once monthly. Our recommendation was to defer the investment until demand for its services increased, and to rent videoconferencing at a nearby facility when it was needed. Management agreed.

Is the technology stable and reliable?

Smaller companies in particular are fearful of new systems until someone bigger (and with more resources) burns them in. This is a wise approach for small companies, because you just can't afford the frustration and the downtown when buggy systems are delivered and you have no one internally to work with the vendor and troubleshoot issues.

How delayed should your adoption be?

One of the keys to a delayed adoption strategy is projecting when it will be timely for your company to adopt the technology—or if you anticipate that there will never be a time to adopt it. If you and your management have a clear vision on when it will be time to adopt, it is much easier to promote the idea of a technology deferral. Common reasons for deferring technology adoption are: waiting for the price to drop; waiting for the technology to mature; waiting for the right business case in your company to emerge that warrants adopting the technology.
The common theme to all of these scenarios is that it's okay to take your time in the adoption of a new technology.

How to avoid getting tricked by expensive food trends

Many of us are trying to find help with dissertation writing and to eat cleaner these days. We look for non-GMO on labels. But some of these precautions can really add up at the cash register without improving the nutritional value of what we’re eating. “It’s time to minimize some of the fear mongering,” comments registered dietitian nutritionist Felicia Stoler, who has traveled the world investigating food origins.
“For example, just because something is non-GMO doesn’t mean it’s healthy or not healthy. Most people don’t realize that there are only a handful of foods that could be GMO anyway: alfalfa, canola, corn (field and sweet), papaya, potatoes, soybeans, squash, and sugar beets.”
Stoler advises you to consider these three tips:
Focus on the food’s nutrient composition, not the hype. “Be open to new ways to sneak important nutrients into your diet but know the facts. Non-GMO foods typically cost more, for example, and they may still be grown using pesticides and antibiotics. And adding fiber to a soft drink still won’t make it healthy for you, especially if it also contains artificial sweeteners.
“Another example: Some people are hyper-focused on palm oil. They’d have you believe that it’s bad for you and the environment. You might be surprised to learn that livestock is the largest driver of deforestation in the world, while much of the palm oil in this country is certified sustainably produced in Malaysia.
“It’s also a rich source of vitamin E tocotrienols which support heart and brain health. And heart health is a huge concern in this country! It’s also a nutritious replacement for trans fats.”
Stick with the basics. “Food that was good for you way back when, is still good for you now. Honey hasn’t really changed. Steel cut oats are solid nutritionally. Eggs are still in their original packaging! On the flip side, some trendy foods such as almond milk – which many people would have you believe is super healthy – are very highly processed. You can also get back to basics with your popcorn. It needs high heat to cook right. Look for a microwave popcorn that contains palm oil, because palm oil doesn’t burn easily so your popcorn will taste better.”
Listen to the science. “Before you spend your food budget on something new or pricey, examine where you’re getting your information. So much gets repeated on the internet that it’s tempting to just assume it’s correct. I’m trained to ask questions. Even if I hear a well-known expert say something with absolute confidence, I may call them out on it. If their science is flawed, it’s flawed.
“If you don’t have a science background, it’s still smart to do some investigating before you start following the next nutritional trend. A single study shouldn’t be taken at face value, no matter how many headlines it gets. Wait for multiple studies, completed by reputable universities, confirming the same outcomes. There’s no rush. Thankfully, we live in a country where nutritious fruits and vegetables are readily available.”

Feminism and Its Influence on Society

Today, feminism is a topic of heated debates all over the world. For this reason, choosing it as a topic for your academic paper is a good idea. Sample: How Has Feminism Either Positively Or Negatively Changed Society?

Almost any idea in the society, no matter how good or bad it is, can be considered a pursuit of freedom. In the XX century, we saw the concept of feminism entrapped between two opposing ideologies that use it as a dividing line between them. One of the traps of feminism is the idea that it manifests only gender equality (Wolf 63). This position still exists today. However, feminism has a much broader sense. First of all, it must be about the intellectual freedom of all individuals (Wolf 59).

At the same time, feminism influences the western society to a great degree today. This paper has an objective to tell about this influence. Everyone has an opinion on feminism, whether it is positive or negative. However, all of us need to understand that the absence of feminism equals slavery in the shape of telling “Behind every great man, there’s a great woman” (DeLamotte 27). There is no need in this type of thinking any longer in our society.

Even though the negative examples of feminism exist, it is still possible to say that it exerted only the positive influence on the society. Of course, it is not perfect, like any other area of life. Feminism began as an intellectual scream in the early XX century. These days, it has an enormous importance for the women who managed to break the intellectual chains in different countries. However, in some parts of the world, females are still struggling to get the right to choose their partner, drive a car, and vote. In our society, women already have these rights and that has already become a habit. Therefore, we must not judge feminism. We need to accept its significance for the entire world.

Semiotic Analysis

The word "semiotics" cannot say much to an unprepared person, although it penetrates all spheres of human life thanks to the subject of its study – the sign. This study is exploring the concepts of the signs in speech and linguistics. It considers the symbol, words, sentences and other sign systems to which people resort in their everyday lives and which they know very well, researching art, linguistics, logic, psychology philosophy, etc.

Semiotics in Science and Nature

In other words, the semiotic component encompasses a wide field of person’s activity, and humanity constantly uses its properties and terminology, often not realizing that it belongs to the area of a special science called semiotics.

For sure, signs are very important for people and nature, especially for animals, because they are based on human and many forms of animal behavior. The usage of signs in all sciences, it does not matter humanitarian or exact, can prove this fact. If you create the introduction at the very beginning, probably, it will have to be rewritten and it is inexpedient to do the same work twice.

Body of the Text

In this part, you must present the main material, your thoughts, ideas, and arguments, answer possible criticism, conduct analysis, etc. The main part depends on your topic. Write in detail – describe each process of your work. Focus on the features of your own interpreting symbols.

Conclusions

The stage of writing the conclusion should be neglected in no case, otherwise, the text will seem unfinished, and your position will not be completely clear. It is important that some new information and materials do not appear in the conclusion. Its task is simply to sum up results of your work and find the most important statements.
